Barryville fire fatality

BARRYVILLE, NYWhen firefighters arrived on the scene at the Hickory Haven Lodge in Barryville, the caretakers house was already fully involved with flames shooting out of the windows.
According to Yulan fire chief Tim Schadt, the fire was spotted by an assistant fire chief at about 8:00 in the morning, and called in. Yulan responded along with fire companies from Highland Lake, Shohola, PA, and Lumberland, and were able to bring the fire under control within 30 to 45 minutes.
According to Schadt, firefighters had received reports that there might be a victim inside, and they found the body after entering the building.

Pike library to present alternative design
Plans change before review board submission

MILFORD, PA - As a result of several recent meetings, the Pike County Public Library (PCPL) has come forward with adjustments to its controversial plan for the new library.
We have made significant alterations to the building plans in response to input from the community, the Milford Architectural Review Board (ARB), the Milford Borough Council and to increase functionality, said a PCPL press release.
PCPL is expected to submit an application to the ARB on November 24.

Sullivan West still shrinking

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NYWere going to be faced with closing this school or Jeff in 10 years time if this trend keeps up. Those were the words of Shaun Sensiba, a member of the board of the Sullivan West Central School District, during a presentation by Dr. Kenneth Hilton about the future of the school population in the district. The presentation was held at the high school on November 13.
